Offshore vs regulated brokers: an honest comparison

Offshore brokers are popular for concrete reasons: 1:500 or higher leverage, no FIFO rule, hedging allowed, fast onboarding, crypto deposits, and no pattern-day-trader restrictions.

The trade-off is protection. A tier-1 regulated broker gives you segregated client funds, compensation schemes and a real complaints process. Offshore licences frequently give you none of that in practice.

The pragmatic approach most experienced traders use: keep only trading capital on the offshore account, withdraw profits weekly, and never treat a broker as a savings account.

Before depositing, check the licence number on the regulator's own register, search for withdrawal complaints from the last six months, and run a small withdrawal test before scaling deposits.
